CONTACT YOUR REPS

Reach out to your representatives about issues important to you.

Protecting vital habitats, clean air and drinking water, and a vibrant Long Island Sound means activating political support for policies that keep people and wildlife safe and healthy. To activate political support, the voices of our citizens must be heard.

Take on an issue important to you and contact your local, county, state, and federal representatives. Research who is best to contact for the issue you are concerned with (votesmart.org is a great resource) and call, email, and/or write a letter to voice your concerns and start the conversation. Encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same—the more your representatives hear about your issue, the more likely they are to take action.

For clean and healthy water, be sure to support all plans in your community to invest in municipal sewage collection and treatment as well as “green” infrastructure projects that improve stormwater management. Investing in the repair and maintenance of these critical infrastructure components not only reward you with clean water—they save you money by avoiding major breaks and repairs.
